All About Orange

I started a new pair of socks, Twisted Tweed with Cherry Tree Hill yarn in the colorway Sugar Maple. I am not sure how much I like the look of this sock. I am not in love with it. The color is growing on me. I am usually not an orange color person, but I have looked around and I do seem to knit a few orange items--Clapotis, Chevron scarf, and now the Twisted Tweed. It's funny because it isn't my favorite color, but the color always seems to make me happy. Could I be a closeted orange person??

On the foot surgery--I am feeling okay. All the pain medicine certainly does help. I am now starting to feel the areas that were operated on. Little twinges of break through pain. My days are spent laying in bed reading, watching tv (thanks to Netflix), knitting, design tutorials... hopefully the post makes sense as I wrote it right after pain medicine.

Foot Surgery...Ouch!

Well, today was the big day! I had four foot surgeries at once--lengthening of the Achilles, moving bones, building a wedge in my arch and making my foot level. It went very well and I am feeling pretty good, at the moment, due to pain medications and a nerve block. I have to stay in bed for two weeks, two months non-weight bearing and two weeks in a boot!

The day started with a bit of confusion, the doctors office moved up my foot surgery and no one called to tell me. The buggers called at 7:02 AM with the "Where are you for your surgery" call. The admitting nurse told me 10 AM! Off for a quick shower and I am not going without good hair! When I arrived there they had me sign forms and I was out. Surgery at 8 AM and done at noon. All you doctors out there no foot elevation jokes (hang your foot high on the wall) to someone coming out of anesthesia!! Too groggy for a sense of humor, especially dry doctor humor.

My doctor did comment on very cute jammies! As you can see I have my remote and knitting! Lot's of time to catch up on reading, movies and knitting! I also brought up my sketch book, so maybe I will have some things to share with you very soon.

Land of Nod did it again! The cutest bean bags EVER and the most comfortable for after foot surgery. Colin will have it after I am done! Heck I might have to keep it :)

Very cute picture of my cute family! Colin loves his food, especially his English Hob Nobs! Chris he has good taste!

First Day of Kindergarten

NB had her first day of kindergarten at John Stanford International School! She did great. I did well also. Good thing I had pre-k to make it easier. Her school is language immersion. Half the day in English and the other half math and science taught in Spanish. I am sure we will hear spanish conversation before long!

Oregon Beach Vacation

We had a wonderful vacation on the Oregon Coast in Waldport about 20 miles south of Newport. We had a lovely house right on the beach. Plenty of water for NB and sand for Colin.

Colin went into the water on our first day and kept falling in the waves. He didn't like the motion of the water one way and the sand the other. Here is the only picture of him near the water!

Here is Colin happy as a clam playing in the sand!

He loved running up and down the sand dunes! I got my workout chasing him.

NB on the other hand is a Surfer Girl!! She couldn't get enough and literally could stay out there all day. Me, I have a low tolerance of the cold northwest water.

We made a visit to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It is a great place and I would highly recommend it!

I did manage some good knitting time! I started the Monkey Socks from Knitty. They are a wonderful knit and I have to say I am really enjoying knitting them.

Smooshy yarn is very nice for this pattern.

A colorful sunset!
